About the Task Force

The Task Force was a joint, consensus-based group of three provincial and three UBCM members. Robert Hobson, Chair of the Central Okanagan Regional District and UBCM Past President, was an alternate member.

Under its Terms of Reference, the Task Force’s mandate was to deliberate and make recommendations on enacting new legislative provisions in order to improve the electoral process for local government elections across B.C.

The Task Force recommendations were delivered to the Province of B.C. and UBCM on May 28, 2010, in the Report of the Local Government Elections Task Force.
